A senior archaeologist today expressed concern that the much-revered and loved Doi Suthep Pagoda could collapse if a powerful earthquake occurs before the project to reinforce it is complete.
Sahawat Naenna, director of the Chiang Mai-based Office of Archaeology and National Museums, said the reinforcement had not started yet.
He said so far the design for the reinforcement of the pagoda’s base is only 90 per cent completed.
